Agejo Holiday Wish List Feat. AdoreMe.Com

Hello guys! I just got off of my semi-hiatus/silence if you would and I thought I would share with you some of my findings for the holiday season. Starting off with AdoreMe.Com!

First off, what is AdoreMe you ask? AdoreMe is a lingerie/sleep wear/active wear website that caters to your fit, age, and personal style. All in which, in my opinion, sounds like a pretty neat way of going about shopping. Especially if you're shopping online. It's like having a personal shopper with you to help you find what's best suited for you based on all the information you input into their survey. 

I thought since AdoreMe.Com caters towards lingerie-that I would theme this holiday day wish list as an 'agejo' styled one. For those of you who are coming here for AdoreMe.Com, I should probably explain what agejo fashion is. 

Agejo fashion is a Japanese Gyaru fashion substyle that was incredibly popular in the mid-00s up until 2013 so to speak. Agejo focused on wearable lingerie aspects in terms of street wear clothing while being over the top with big hair, heavy make up and glittering nails. Agejo's specific themes were to have short skirts, lots of lace (to the point of lace peeking out from bras in low cut tops), babydoll cuts, and lots of thigh highs and garters. Typically an agejo gal's closet is full of black, white, pink, teal, and purple colorways. Think femininity to the max!

Before to think, what is this crazy girl into? Who would wear lingerie bits as clothing in public? A little fun fact, I'll have to know that a variety of very well known celebrities have claimed to get some of their staple pieces for their outfits from lingerie shops or the like. It's actually more common than you think! Certain items don't just have to be limited to the bedroom. 

With that said, perhaps you're wondering how to get started with agejo or get a couple of agejo-like pieces in your wardrobe-if not add some if you are already into gyaru style agejo fashion like myself. This is the perfect obtainable holiday gift guide without needing to fly over to Japan or use a shopping service to obtain a couple of simple basics. Even if you're not going for my own personal fashion aesthetic-there's something about lingerie that makes a woman feel ladylike. Every time I've purchased intricate sets and pieces, I've always felt super confident about myself even though most of those purchases were going to be under my clothes and not be seen. 

Starting off with the shopping process, AdoreMe.Com will give you a survey asking what your age is, your personal style, what you prefer in sleep wear and lingerie, and your sizes. Personally, my style is very eccentric and glamorous so a lot of the pieces recommended to me through AdoreMe were really corset-like/lace detailed pieces that spoke to me. 

In terms of sets; this piece literally screamed at me. How cute would this be paired with a couple of my Ma*rs of Golds Infinity brand dresses? I definitely recommend the black and pink colorway for a very authentic look. Especially if you want your bra to peek out ever so slightly. Also, there's something about your undergarments matching that just makes you feel like you have your life together.

Another really useful undergarment I found were these adhesive plunge bra. Sometimes, showing your bra just isn't what you're aiming for-these are quite literally the answer to that. With these types of bras you're able to wear dresses or tops that plunge a lot lower without straps ruining your outfit. This isn't just an item limited to agejo fashion. These are really useful for formal wear. If you have a holiday party to go to and your dress is super stunning? Look into investing into one of these bras for all of your formal occasions. These types of bras are rather special because they stick to your skin in order to help you not have to constantly be pulling your strapless bra up through your top or dress. These are super nifty!

Now onto so very fun side pieces that are essential to agejo style fashion. Agejo fashion is absolutely nothing without it's useage of thigh highs. Whether it's thigh high stockings or thigh high boots-agejo fashion is perfect for emphasizing that "golden area" as it's referred to. The golden area being the skin that is shown between the top of your thigh high and the bottom of your skirt. If you're like me with some knobby weird looking knees? Thigh highs are a god send. Not only that but they're extremely sexy. Definitely wear caution for this fashion statement if something that has to be worn with a lot of confidence. Especially since the thigh high stocking trend gets lost in translation State side.

So, maybe you're not a lingerie and thigh high type of girl. That might go also for who you're shopping for as well. There's still something for you on AdoreMe. They have a variety of jewelry on there to choose from which are really sweet stocking stuffers among other items for everyday that can still be super cute and girly.

 Personally this jewelry set I found was the set I liked the most because it combines two trendy elements I love. Chokers and the usage of black and gold (which are staples for agejo) fashion. I thought this set was super adorable and even comes with a variety of earring sets that are just enough to draw attention but not distract away from an already put together outfit.

Next, we have sleep wear. Because it's holiday break, a lot of people have a lot of spare ime time to see loved ones whether it's friends or family. Personally, I get super self concious when my PJs don't match (yet they always don't). 

Personally, I liked this set the most because it reminded me of some super high end sets I saw a couple years ago from a Japanese brand that's taken a less over the top route. The black colorway is not only a way too look slimmer but also a way to keep warm during the wintertime long with having pants and long sleeves!

Lastly, this an item I thought was great for those of you who have a New Year's Resolution. A lot of people's promise is to exercise more, be healthier, and lose weight. For some, it's because spring time is right around the corner meaning less clothes will be a huge thing to worry about. For myself, this means convention season. Not only does this mean I'll be wearing over the top gaudy and sexy clothing (and cosplay)-but it means my arms and legs are exposed more. This can make some self concious. Usually after the holiday festivities I kick down the indulgences by a notch or two unless I'm going out. I thought this workout set was super cute (much like the black PJs, these will keep you looking good because black is slenderizing) but it's good for those days for me, personally, when I like to casually run errands or play Pokemon Go without feeling constrained. The netting  detail in the arms is super cute and gathered sweat pants happen to be very trendy casual wear in fashion right now. Cute and new things that contribute to your goal is always a good motivator.

Personally, I think AdoreMe.Com is a super nifty way to do your lingerie shopping without the hassle of going into a flagship store and being shy about your purchases. You get to find things that cater to you versus being overwhelmed with the massive variety laid out in a physical store. Ontop of this, AdoreMe.Com is also super affordable in comparison to the variety of other flagship's high end prices. It's very seldom that you find a bra and panty set for under 30.00!

This Semester's Been a Little Cray: Life, Style Investments, Lolita, and Make Up Tutorials

No really. This semester has been a complete crazy mess in terms of my schooling. THIS is why I haven't been blogging as frequently. D: and I miss it so much. However, my studies come first-so please be patient with me for just a little bit longer. I'm almost finished for just a second and then maybe if I'm not too drained, I'll be able to be a bit more creative like I had been in the past. <3

Regardless, I've been trying very hard to keep up my "once-a-month" update on here as best as I can. So I thought I would talk about some of my splurges with you guys. <3

First off, Yahoo! Auctions happened right during my birthday and a little after. Between make up and clothes, I've been seriously hoarding what I can for the times I can fully do J-Fashion again. Because school has been so crazy and has kept me on my toes this semester, I've really casualed down my outfit of the days and such. However, I've for sure, went on a major shopping spree in hopes of actually getting to look how I want to when the time does permit.

I feel like because it's been colder weather and because Halloween was a thing for a second-that I really got heavily into rock gyaru. Brands like Tutuha, Ghost of Harlem, ect. really screamed out to me. Last year during the fall I really was heavily into the cute dusty pink/rose/cream Liz Lisa asthetic with an occasional Golds Infinity or d.i.a piece on the side.

However this year, I've really been dressing in a lot of blacks and vamps if not jewel toned colors for school. Ghost of Harlem and Tutuha are WAYYY too out there for school in comparison to Liz Lisa's bits and bobs but it hasn't stopped me from dressing dark or splurging on those brands to dress up in when I get the chance.

Another reason for this need for 'rock' style clothing in my life was the occurrence that I had strayed from those roots for a bit. I didn't realize it until I preparing to go to the Gazette concert and realized I had one BPN piece and two Ghost of Harlem pieces-one that was super over the top and one that was stupid casual. But nothing quite in between. SO I decided to change that.

Yahoo Auctions was quite the thrill to get into. I found so many gems for stupid cheap and also things that are relatively hard to find.

First piece that arrived in the mail was this gorgeous Ghost of Harlem dress from the 2015 collection. I absolutely adored it from the time that SakuRina was promoting/modeling it. Hell, she even made the white colorway grow on me. However, I found the black version for literally 10 bucks. What. A. Steal. I remember when this was retailing for 60-70.00! <3 Also super glad I got it in the black colorway because the fabric is pretty thin honestly. White stains/fades out to yellow over time and also I'd have to be mindful of my undergarmets.

Here is my dress in comparison to the promo ad that Sakurai Rina is in. The dress has a really neat alternation feature. You can have a gathered hem or a straight full on dress. Personally, I prefer it with the gathered hem at the bottom. <3

The next two pieces that arrived were my Hellcatpunks dress and the Tutuha skirt.

The Hellcatpunks piece was 8.00 and I couldn't resist. The from had a red winged heart that says 'Miss Vamp' and the from sleeves down to the back are done up with ties/laces-which I thought was a really nice detail. The bottom is just an attacked red 'skirt' piece that I happen to like a lot. This piece is surprisingly very loose and comfortable on me. I thought it would be short on me but it actually goes down pretty long surprisingly. It happens to be one of my favorite causal 'rock' pieces for when I don't want to spend an insane amount of time getting ready but still want to look fashionable and cute.

The Tutuha skirt was a HUGE wishlist item. I kept having so much trouble finding it this past year. I REALLY wanted to wear that skirt to the Gazette concert but I literally could not find that skirt anywhere. I still want the matching union jack top to go with it (super inspired by Himena Osaki's shop staff picture from way back in the day) but the skirt will do for now until then. I found the black and white colorway for 5.00 (yes wtf) and thought that this was the most versatile to coordinate. However I would GLADLY take this skirt in green (yes they have green and I don't see the green one often), red, and of course-purple (because it's my favorite color!!). The skirt is a lovely material and the lining below is all silver sequins. I was super afraid that this was going to be too short for me but this actually fits pretty well surprisingly. I still would probably wear spanks as a precaution regardless. Point is, I'm so happy to finally own this in my wardrobe.

The next Tutuha piece that came a couple days later-was a bit of an impulse buy admittedly-but I needed it. I LOVE this babydoll. I can't wait to have decent occasions to wear this to. At first I debated if I really needed it. But then I realized how hard these pieces are to find and the price point and couldn't help but snag it. Like my skirt-this was in the black and white colorway. Yet again, something I can easily work with because I have black and silver things that go well with this and black and white can still work if you want to add pops of color. The material is super thin, soft, and fragile. Be wary of your nails. The babydoll is certainly a babydoll too. On some girls it looks like a dress but I'm a bit curvy so I ended up wearing it as a long top with my WC skirt underneath for Halloween. I love the sequined star at the chest and the cross/skull print. There's really beautiful lace lining around the breast pieces and those pieces are also padded.

So now all I want from Tutuha on my remaining list:

Union Jack Top (different colors and the black and white one)
Union Jack Skirt (in different colors)
Lace Babydoll
Sequined heart top
Cross necklaces (different colors and in matte/sequined glitter patterns)
Zipper Camisole (matches the babydoll's print)
Batwing Corset Belt


Slowly crossing off things from my list though!! <3 -is a huge fan of Tutuha.

Here was how I coordinated the Tutuha babydoll for Halloween. I placed my hair up in half twintails with my devil horn clips in. The babydoll is paired with my black WC skirt (for length and because it's less sheer that way), For modest I threw on my BPN bat wing cardigan since I was giving out candy to children that night. I also wore my bow thigh highs (which are dying. looking into ma*rs or Golds Infinity thigh highs). For accessories I placed my gunmetal Vivienne Westwood large orb necklace on since I felt like it matched the theme. Pretty sure I also paired the necklace with the silver orb dangle earrings as well. :)

The last item I purchased was something I didn't expect to buy. It was a HUGE bonus and I nearly died when I saw the price it was going for.

I've left lolita fashion for awhile-not because I disliked it. But because of a variety of reasons. 1. I live in a weird area. Nobody wears lolita out here and honestly, I don't appreciate the crap I get wearing any of my "out there" clothing thus making myself a walking target for harassment. There's clearly strength in numbers. 2. With that said, while I live close enough to San Francisco-I would still have to commute in lolita. Thus, making me yet again, a walking target. I already get targeted in "normal" clothes or even if I limit myself to only doing my make up nice. Honestly, I don't feel safe wearing lolita. Why? 3. I would be considered a 'lone lolita'. I've talked about it here before on the blog, how I seriously felt like the real life Momoko from Shimotsuma Monogatari (Kamikaze Girls). While I own an okay amount of lolita brand-I've never quite fit in with the lolitas. I'm a little out there and delve into a lot of different styles. Not only that, but I've always failed to "keep up" because I almost feel like you have to be active, be able to afford to stay fresh and trendy (or at least have an arsenal of different outfits for tons of different tea parties and fashion events) and afford to be active. None of those categories have I ever fit into. So I kind of gave up on doing lolita because of that.

Gyaru was way more accessible. And I've always been limited to wearing lolita fashion to conventions or J-Culture events where I feel somewhat safer roaming around in it alone. There's no point of me spending hundreds/thousands on dollars on lolita that I would rarely get to wear versus spending a lot less money on gyaru brand and getting to wear it more often.

Regardless, I do a couple of staple brand lolita pieces. Baby the Stars Shine Bright, Alice and the Pirates, BPN, h.Naoto, and Juliette et Justine. However, in all my lolita life. I never got the chance of owning Angelic Pretty. Secretly, it was a dream of mine. A hidden desire because AP was really gaudy and detailed. I didn't care for the "OTT sweet" phase that Angelic Pretty went through for a bit. Anything with cakes and toys and cutesy pastel aesthetics kind of deterred me from AP. However, AP started getting darker and a lot more relatable in the past years.

I think it was Wonder Queen that really got me hooked. Then Sweet Girl Room, Crystal Dream Carnival, and Holy Lantern came out and I was hooked. There were just things about those designs that had me interested. Prints and designs that really screamed me. Make up vanities, keys, stars, moons, chandeliers, and Alice in Wonderland...<3 Even the colorways were gorgeous.

Holy Lantern and Crystal Dream Carnival will always be my dream dresses for AP. Hands down. They're gorgeous.

However, I was browsing Yahoo Auctions out of curiosity just to see what would pop up. And then I saw it. Holy Theater JSK in ivory. For 119.00. 130.00 shipped. Which was such a snag. For those of you who don't know-Holy Theater released this year.  Why it was that cheap? I don't know. Maybe the print wasn't popular?

I debated on my bid for a bit until I realized that kana for the title said "Holy Theater Set" and realized this dress came with the bow and OTKs. For 130.00? For all three pieces? This set usually retails for 350-400.00. I was sold.

AND THUS, I own Angelic Pretty's Holy Theater. <3 It's really opposite of my style lolita wise. I own ONE 'off white' lacey eye lace with cherry embroidery Baby the Stars Shine Bright OP dress. This is the only other "light" dress that I own. The rest of my dresses are purple/black/ or black/white/silver aesthetics. I have the Juliette et Justine Star Money dress as well but I guess you could consider that a 'dark' colored dress as well.

So why Holy Theater then?

Because is shared the same design as Crystal Dream Carnival. There were bunnies and stars and I could't resist. The piece honestly grew on me.

Because this is my first Angelic Pretty piece, I really got to appreciate all the small intricate details that were placed into this set. There are so many...like wow. Now I can see why girls really invest in these pieces-especially now a days.

Everyone always talks about the print and the infamous custom AP lace. However, what I will tell you is that there's more to it than that.

The ribbons on my dress sparkle. There's literal sparkles. Even the lace trims on some places are literally a sparkling gold. The chiffon pieces, the straps, and waist ties are dettachable. This dress doesn't have pockets but apparently a lot of AP dresses do have pockets. Everything feels soft and of good quality too.

In full, I love my JSK set. I can't wait to finally wear it. I haven't done lolita fashion in so long and I'm really eager to try it out again. <3

I'll have to figure out how I'm going to coordinate this. I feel like I'm going to break some serious lolita fashion rules. Aka sin to the gods. Those chiffon sleeves on the sides that are just open and flowy would just look way too strange with a blouse. Literally in my head, I'm going 'fuck it' and might decide to wear it blouseless. All I'm worried about are my lack of wrist cuffs and accessories. </3 I feel like I need to make up for that shit since it's going to lack a blouse. I looked up pictures of models wearing this JSK and I literally saw a model with the sleeves on it with no blouse. SO MAYBE IT WILL BE OKAY.

Also, I have one petticoat. One petticoat looks okay. However, I feel like it needs another.......


In other news, outside of my hauls-I tried hard to do a make up tutorial for before Halloween. Last year I was stupid active before Halloween with the Misa Amane lookbook and the Sailor Mars make up tutorial. However, this semester has been way too packed for me to make time like I had wanted.

However, literally the weekend before I decided to bust one out in an attempt to try. However, I didn't get it fully edited and finished until this week.

Here is both my Updated Foundation Routine:


Last year, I did a foundation routine video. However, as I've gotten more so into make up and have invested in a lot more products-the more different my make up has gotten. My foundation bit changed up a lot. Mainly because of my skin texture changing due to skincare and me aging. Also, I've learnt some new techniques that I find really helpful. So hear that is!

Lastly, is my Space Girl make-up tutorial!

Recently, I realized that my laptop can handle videogames from steam. Because of that, I've been playing my favorites like Jet Set Radio and Magical Drop. However, I had never gotten to play Space Channel 5. It looked really fun so I decided to buy it. It's so fun! Ulala is so cute!! I noticed that Ulala has really pretty pink eye make up so my Space Girl make up was definitely inspired by hers!

This look is really bright pink and gradiented. It's probably one of the brightest looks I've done in a very long time. I was super proud of it despite it being a trial and error. I really enjoyed it.


Here is the look with hair and make up done. Unfortunately I didn't take too many pictures of this look because I was more focused on video content. I also lacked an "uchuu-kei" outfit so I threw on Kokokim instead because that's close enough right?

25 Years and Counting

I'm FINALLY getting around to doing a blog for last month/partially this month. It took me awhile because for the last week and half, I've been extremely sick. Like...the sickest I've been the longest time and for the longest period of time ever. Ontop of that, school has been royally kicking my ass. I absolutely can not wait to get through finals and have a month long winter break. I've made it to where all my classes for next semester will be ONLINE because I'm just not having it this semester. I swear once I get through math and science, I'll feel like I've already graduated college. English and reading materials aren't too bad (save for me trying to memorize things-as I've gotten older my memory has been complete shit) but math and science will be the end of me.

However, with that said-I tried really hard to make time for myself on my birthday. As of September 26th, I turned 25!!! I can you believe that? I'm at this point now. 25 shouldn't be a huge year in age but for some reason, I kind of feel like it's the adult mark. The true adult mark where you can make decisions and truly make them because you have enough life experience as an adult at this point to make them. This doesn't mean that you'll stop learning or that your decision making is always the best but...how can I explain one's early 20s from my own personal experience...?

Your early 20s are a strange experimental phase. You're an adult but you're not used to BEING one. You're not used to being called a "lady" because you've been referred to as 'girl' all your life. You slowly begin to realize that you're somewhat of an authority figure. You have the option to say no. You don't have to lay down and take it when someone talks to you rudely. You're at the age where it's absolutely okay to stand up for yourself without being demeaned as a child. But you're not in realization of this until much later. Or at least I wasn't. It didn't occur to me until maybe a year ago. That I had the option to do things my way and that be respected. 

I know a lot of people talk about people in their mid-twenties having it together. While some might have their careers started and be even happily married with children or a house (which is REALLY bizarre for me. That's so young in my eyes... That or it's just because I can't see myself doing any of that) others might not. And that's okay. As long as you're working towards the direction you want to strive for at the end (and even then it might change. Shit happens) then that's what important. Age is just a number when it comes to accomplishments and growth. It's something that has to happen on your own terms because only you know yourself best. And that's what I have learnt in my early twenties. 

People are always caught up with comparing each other or talking a bunch of smack about someone who might be struggling or aren't quite there yet in terms of their life's accomplishments or priorities. But instead of judging, we should be encouraging. Because quite honestly? We've all been there at one point in our lives. Whether it was earlier on or later on. I feel like once you've hit your mid-twenties, you've gained enough life experience to not have everything be the fuck about you. You learn to empathize because you've been through some bullshit whether it be minor or major. 

With that kept in mind, the complete opposite happens where you have to FORCE yourself to be self-centered. You have to think about you because you're your own best friends. In your early twenties, I think you start realizing who your true real friends are. You start realizing who you click with and who you don't... And unlike in your school years where you see people on the constant to be able to make up to talk it out-as you grow older. Friendships take effort. Why? Because maybe you don't see each other as often. Maybe you're at wits end and don't want to tolerate some shit and it's easier to avoid someone because it takes effort to keep in contact in the first place.

What, I can say is-cherish your friendships in your twenties as best as you can. Friends are far and few in between when you grow older. The harder it is to MAKE friends and put the effort in to stay in contact. 

Which brings me onto the lighter topic of my own birthday and what I did. My actual birthday was on a Monday. I had class. But I still went to class looking agejo'd up as fuck. I wore ma*rs to class...had top and bottom lashes in. I'm very sure people were like "who the fuck does this bitch thinks she is?" LOL But that's okay. It was the highlight of my actual birthday!

Afterwards, a couple days later. I spent some time with someone important to me. They treated me to really delicious Korean food in Dublin/Pleasanton. We literally had the best popcorn chicken we literally had in all our lives. I had some glorious bulgogi cravings (because we don't have decent K-BBQ where I live) so I got that. We ended up strolling around the outlet malls window shopping and the like. Afterwards we just went for boba and chatted for a couple of hours. In all it was very nice and relaxing. I appreciated every moment of it. Thank you for bringing me all my favorite things to eat and see. :) 

AND THEN A WEEK LATER, true yolo was the definition of my San Francisco trip. Because I had no idea the fuck it was happening. I had literally 100.00 on me and stretched that shit (and then got more money LATER after my SF trip. wtf?).  I went with Katie and Michelle who live semi-close to where I'm at. 

It was a super fun trip honestly despite it being completely unexpected and knowing that at the time, I was seriously yolo-ing it in every type of way.

We played lots of Pokemon and ate lots of food. LOL And eventually met up with my food friends Tiffiny and Mai for even more food with added derpage. For details on that trip-click the video below~

Etude House: Play Color Eyes Eye Shadow Palette - In The Cafe (Review)

Recently, I was checking my mail box for mail considering I had made a couple of crazy big orders as of recent and found a package from close by. At first I was like, "What did I order from here?" And then came to realize that it was a surprise package from my friend Tiffiny!! She sent me a variety of things including cute stickers, a very sweet letters, and for my birthday an Etude House palette!! I was so shocked!! 

So today, I thought I would do a review on this palette because it's became my new favorite thing to play with as of recent! It's been awhile since I've played with Etude House products, especially new Etude House products-so it was really exciting to get to try this palette out. Before Tiffiny had surprised me with it, I had considered buying it for myself before I ended up purchasing the Gwen Stefani x Urban Decay palette back in July/August. However, I was afraid of the Etude House matte eye shadow shades being chalky/having fall out, so I went for the high end brand instead.


Boy was I surprised. The Urban Decay palette actually has a lot more fall out than the Etude House Play Color Eyes palette!!! :o 

First off, let's do an overview of this gorgeous palette. The "In the Cafe" series palette has a set of ten different eye shadow shades. There are two intense shimmery metallics, one sheer glitter, one bright matte pink/orange color, and the other six are all matte neutral colors. The packaging is slim and sleek-there is a mirror built in, and two sponge applicators making this palette great for traveling. 

This palette is positively perfect for fall time! The colors are are very warm and very flattering to the eyes. Because it's "cafe" themed- a lot of the colors while neutral still give off a warm or occasionally a cool toned cast (but not so cool that it's gray like the Gwen x UD palette). The mattes blend out perfectly with very little fallout. They make wonderful transition colors are also are good for the whole 'cut crease' trend that's been rather popular. The metallic shimmers and glitters are absolutely gorgeous. Both have brassy undertones-one being a brown/gold and the other being an orange/gold shade. They're incredibly buttery smooth and pigmented-they pack on so well. I was so excited to have a palette like this because I wanted to experiment with matte shades and I actually don't have a fall-time esque orange that I keep being tempted to play with. I only own a coral/summer time orange. So I was super excited to finally kind of look like a witch bitch without looking too dark and dreadful!

Personally? This palette has been perfect for giving the fall-time Halloween vibes. The orange/gold glittery shades are perfect for that pumpkin-esque/fall leaves look. I usually use the mattes for transition and crease shades and they blend beautifully and compliment the shimmery colors.  I've used it twice and have fallen absolutely in love! The key for me personally is to pair it with a vamp lip like in the look below: 

In all? This palette is incredibly underestimated. It surprisingly blew my Urban Decay out of the fucking water in terms of lack of fallout/blendability. This has been my new fall go-to staple and probably will be until the colder December weather sets in. Tiffiny clearly knows me well! ;) Thank you so much hun!!! Anastasia Beverly Hills: MoonChild Glow Kit Review + Real vs Fake Palette

For a pale skinned girl like myself, finding highlighters that actually AREN'T your skin tone can be quite the challenge. So when I saw the Anastasia Beverly Hills MoonChild Glow Kit-I was pretty much in love. Correction, I had to have it. And I've actually the make up hoarder in me has been on a HUGE Anastasia fix lately. 

So here is a review on the much loved limited edition MoonChild Glow Kit! 

First off, for awhile -I had a hard time justifying this palette. The colors were so out there and pastel-like. Would I really have the need for six highlighters and ones with all different undertones (and some more wearable than others?)... 

I debated on it for awhile.. Hell, I even bought a fake MoonChild Glow Kit to try to justify myself (we'll get to that and the details on that in a bit)... But in the end, after seeing the real life swatches of the glow kit, I decided to bust the bank and be out of 40.00 for one. I'm a weak bitch for anything 'cosmic' and 'MOON themed' especially. Don't even get me started. 

However, when I recieved my palette I was so excited and so happy to get it. It's officially been my new favorite thing to play with in my arsenal. The colors are completely one-of-a-kind and aren't something you can get out of just palette. The cool thing about the MoonChild Glow Kit is not only the uniqueness of the palette but price point. 

At first when you see 40.00 you automatically go-FUCK that's a lot. But when break it down honestly? You're getting six highlighting shades with a variety different undertones versus one highlighter from other brands that sell them as singlets. 

Also, holographic/duo chrome highlighters have been a huge trend lately in the make up work. Brands such as 'Milk Cosmetics' are making highlighters for this trend and other indie brands have even made 'rainbow highlighters' for that ethereal fairy affect. The cool thing about the MoonChild Glow Kit is the fact that you can obtain that look with many of the colors creating a duo-chrome highlight, but you can also use a single highlight shade for a more wearable look. Especially if you're a fashion chameleon like myself where one style isn't constant-you have a color for most of your blush shades. Need a gold? It Lucky Clover has you covered. Need a sweet pink high light? Pink heart is the one for you. Do you need a so white that it's icy high lighter? Blue ice. Pastels? Star and Purple Horseshoe. There are endless possibilities if you play with the palette enough to figure out what color suits what blush/what make up look. 

And for 40.00? That's not bad if you break down the variety of colors and the multiple uses you can get out of them. You can make MoonChild incredibly wearable. 

This shades are all insanely pigmented and trust me-people will be able to see your highlight from across damn room. 

Here are the swatches and my description of each high lighting shade...

The first color we have is Blue Ice, which is so white that it's a cool toned icy white. This will be perfect for those winter time looks where you're using a lot of frosty colors. 

The next shade is Star is which is basically a silver highlight. Personally? Tsuyome girls, abuse the shit out of this shade. It's perfect for that metallic silver highlight. 

Purple Horseshoe is next which has lavender cast with glitter. This is perfect for pastel looks. 

Pink Heart is the beginning of the second row. This is a beautiful highlighter with a pink undertone. This goes nicely with pink blush especially. If you're into himekaji or Popteen inspired looks-this highlighter is for you. 

Lucky Clover is an extremely interesting shade in the palette. It's a white/mint green white with gold undertones. It's surprisingly extremely wearable. I've personally been wearing it with darker hued blushes in the red tones. 

Last we have Blue Moon which is a metallic blue highlight shade. This color and Purple Horseshoe are very challenging to work with but if you figure out how to utilize it-you can create amazing looks for this. 

Other ways I use this highlight other than for on the cheek bones: 

This palette can be used as an eye shadow. The colors are incredibly pigmented so you can implement them as sheer pastel shades with lots of glitter. The light colors are amazing for that inner highlight for the corners of your eye as well as a brow bone highlight.

Personally? I love using Purple Horseshoe ontop of a pink liquid lipstick. I wait for the lipstick to dry and set and then place a highlight (or a couple) highlight shades ontop. The highlight colors give the lipstick an amazing sheen. Here's an example: 

This now gets us into the fake MoonChild palette. Before I purchased the real one, I had bought a fake. Why a fake you ask? Because I was wondering if the colors in the real MoonChild were wearable enough for 40.00.

After I purchased my fake palette, I was trying to look up information on the fake glow kits... Every Glow Kit had been reviewed other than the Moon Child. Apparently, MoonChild was a very recent fake that had been copied and released. In a way? This is a good thing because this Glow Kit is limited edition. It's nice to know there's an existing dupe for when this thing sells out. Especially if this has became a new favorite. 

However I eventually did break and buy the real palette mainly because I heard a lot of people's Glow Kits regardless of which one, were coming in shattered. That worried me a little.. Also I found very little information on the fake so I honestly wondered if it would be what I paid for. In the end, I bought the real one out of fear that I would be disappointed with the fake palette and that the real one would be sold out by then. This was actually a highlight kit that I had been wanting for a good month or so. I kept coming back to it. So I bought the real one-was super happy about it. And then had the curiosity of what the fake one would be like when it actually came in.

To my surprise, the fake one came intact. That made me extremely pleased. Noticing the packaging-I instantly found some differences. The fake is more holographic and the font on everything is slightly bolder than on the real palette. Also the fake palette has a bit of a texture that the real one doesn't have. Also the fake's packaging is a darker shade of blue.

Inside the palette, there are some differences in some of the highlighter shades.  Purple Horseshoe is pretty off in the pan and in the fake there's not much differentiation between Star and Blue Moon. Blue Ice is also much lighter than the fake in the pan..

However, don't let the pan shades fool you because here are the swatches:

Pretty amazing right? This a nicely done dupe... In terms of texture-the real one is a lot more buttery than the fake one. The fake one has more of a powder consistency. Also the real ones have a bit more luster to them in terms of the chrome/glitter and go on a bit more smoothly than the fake palette's. 

However other than that, it's a nice palette. 

Here's my verdict-

If you're a huge make up junkie such as myself that happens to do crazy make up all the time? The real palette would be worth the investment. It's nice. It definitely lives up to the hype. 

However, if you're not one to wear bold make up/only wear make up on an occasion or merely can't afford the palette (or can't snag it before it's gone) this is a lovely dupe for the real deal. My fake was 9.00 believe it or not. The real one retails for 40.00. My only warning about fakes-DON'T GET SCAMMED. My only annoyance with fakes is sellers and people try to pass off their fakes for the real deal and charging the real price or even half when they're not worth that type of money. So PLEASE do your research on fakes of the products if you are in the market for purchasing a fake.
